Positioning Yourself to Receive - Part One
Understanding the God-side and the Man-side

There is a God-side and a man-side to most biblical subjects.  Let's look at salvation as an example.  First, notice that the Scriptures are very clear concerning what God has done for us through His Son.

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus."  (Romans 3:23-24)

"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."  (Romans 5:8)

"But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved)."  (Ephesians 2:4-5)

"Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness - by whose stripes you were healed."  (1 Peter 2:24)

"And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world."  (1 John 2:2)

The God-side in salvation is that God sent His Son to die for the sins of the whole world.  He made it possible for all to be saved yet all are not saved.  It says in 2 Peter 3:9 that He is "not willing that any should perish" yet people are dying and missing heaven everyday.  The reason some are perishing is that they do not know what God has done for them.  But others are just not aware of the man-side in salvation.  Again, let's examine the Bible and notice that it is also very clear concerning what people must do to be saved.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."  (John 3:16)

"And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.  He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life."  (1 John 5:11-12)

"But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name."  (John 1:12)

"For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."  (Romans 10:13)

"That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved."  (Romans 10:9)

"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God."  (Ephesians 2:8)

It is the responsibility of people to believe in what God has done and receive His gift of salvation by faith.  It is through faith that people are saved.  They must believe and receive Jesus as their Savior and Lord.  They must believe in their heart that Jesus was raised from the dead and confess Him as their Lord.  There are "should" issues and "must" issues.  You should wash your car, but you must put gas in it.  You should exercise, but you must eat and drink.  There are things that you must believe and do if you are to receive salvation.

These same principles hold true in all our receiving from God.  There is a God-side and a man-side.  We must accumulate a degree of knowledge about our Heavenly Father and His ways if we are to comply with the requirements placed upon us as recipients.

"But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.  (Hebrews 11:6)

"Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them."  (Mark 11:24)

"Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.  And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him."  (1 John 5:14-15)

"If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you."  (John 15:7)

Knowing what His will is and believing we receive when we pray is the position we must be in if we desire to possess what God has made available to us through Christ.  God's will is revealed within the Scriptures.  We must know it and choose to believe it.  Our part is to have faith.  God's part is to keep His word - and He does!

Know God's Will + Desire + Pray + Believe That You Receive = You Shall Have It

"Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases."

Psalms 103:2-3
